Meeting in the Belle "church"
After Ellen has sent an MSN message to a major customer in India for whom she writes articles about business opportunities and trends in Utrecht and the surrounding area, she takes the lift up to the 30th floor where the Belle "church" is located. A multifunctional room designed to offer layout flexibility in order to fulfil a variety of functions and where different ambiances can be created with the help of virtual reality technology. For example, a party venue with projected images of the castle interior of the old Slot Zuylen on the floor, walls and ceiling or, as today, a décor that replicates the interior of a church from the real Belle van Zuylen's era. Ellen has gone to the church to meet Paul and Mehmet, her 'neighbours' from the tenth floor. They have just returned from a holiday in Barcelona to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Mehmet works as a presenter for RTV Utrecht, whose offices are located on the 40th floor of the Belle Van Zuylen tower. Paul is an engineer and works for a firm of consulting engineers in Maarssen. John from floor 22 is the last one to join their meditation group. John tells them that he was offered an attractive job with Sylvio's law firm that morning in the sports club at the Belle tower. He goes on to say that his mother, who everybody calls Auntie Es, will be arriving that afternoon along with three other aunts. John's mother has her own small apartment in the Belle tower where she spends about six months a year. She lives in Surinam for the rest of the year. The three aunts are staying at the hotel in the Belle tower. Family members and friends of Belle tower residents can stay at the hotel at discounted prices.
